Alverno Early Learning Center

Alverno Early Learning Center is a nonprofit organization. We provide quality care for children from 6 weeks through 5 years of age.

The Center is open to the community, however, first priority is given to Alverno students, faculty and staff.

Mission

Alverno Early Learning Center exists to promote educational and personal development of every child and staff member who enters our doors. We will respect every child, parent and coworker by keeping lines of communication open and confidentiality a priority.

Philosophy

Alverno Early Learning Center believes in high quality care and education for each child. Our program is based on the philosophy that:

  • Children grow and develop through active exploration in a warm and nurturing environment
  • We believe in the uniqueness of each child and strive to meet the individual needs of each child
  • We provide a variety of educational experiences that place emphasis on child involvement and decision making
  • Activities are focused to enhance social, emotional, cognitive and language development

Hours

The Center is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., except during Alverno-designated holidays. If the college closes for weather-related reasons, the Center also will close.

Fees

Fees charged are based on student, faculty, staff or community status. Each semester parents contract for set hours of childcare per week. Fees are charged according to the contract. Wisconsin shares payment are accepted.

Wait list

Since children are enrolled on a first-come, first-served basis, it is necessary to have a waiting list. Even if your child is not yet born, you may add your name to the list. It is never too early to sign up, so please call 414-382-6076.

Curriculum

We believe children learn best through hands-on exploration of the environment. Age specific programming is based on a child-initiated, play-based curriculum. Teachers plan activities based upon their observations of children's' interests and abilities.
